A 71-year-old man from Burnham-on-Sea area has died in hospital, as a result of a three-vehicle collision, weeks before on the A39.

The elderly man was driving a Vauxhall Meriva, which was caught up in a collision with a skip lorry near West Quantoxhead at about 9am back on July 14th.

The Meriva was travelling away from West Quantoxhead when it was reported to have crossed the double white line in the centre of the road, colliding with the skip lorry going the other way.

Police say the driver of the skip lorry tried to avoid the Meriva, ending up in a roadside ditch, where it hit an overhanging branch, which then hit a Ford Transit.

The 71-year-old driver of the Vauxhall Meriva from the Burnham area was flown to hospital, but died on July 26th.

Anyone who saw the collisions is being asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101
